primitive depleted love 2013

its messy its rough its wild and colorful

this collection has evolved throughout several years, and I continue to hone this messy technique into a controlled unrefined texture ♥

reticulation also known as depletion gilding means the silver is heated sufficiently to cause oxidation of the copper in the surface layer, then the oxidized copper is removed by soaking the silver in a mild acid solution (the “depletion”), this process leaves a thin layer of fine silver on the surface of the metal (the “gilding”), although Its a long process its extremely rewarding and truly one of a kind!

the deep darkness and rainbow colors buried in the crevasses you see are created in a unique patina process that involves old traditional methods and some other little tricks up my sleeve! xo
